ARCTIC LNG 2

Novatek’s project for natural gas production and liquefied natural gas production in the Gydan Peninsula.

The project is implemented in the innovative concept of construction using gravitational-type bases (GST). The lack of work on the construction of the LNG plant at its location allows to significantly minimize the impact on the environment.

Due to the northern conditions and the use of the latest technologies in the field of energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions per ton of LNG produced will be more than 30% lower than the average in this industry.

The fleet of gas carriers created for the transportation of products produced by the Arctic LNG 2 uses LNG as fuel - one of the cleanest types of marine fuel.

The environmental characteristics of Arctic LNG 2 will provide its long-term competitiveness in the transition to a low-carbon economy and increasing requirements for LNG projects to reduce CO2 emissions.

  • The project involves the construction of three liquefaction lines of 6.6 million tons per year (with a total capacity of 19.8 million tons).
  • The main shareholder of Arctic LNG-2 is Novatek (60%), the French TotalEnergies, Chinese CNPC and CNOOC, the Japanese Japan Arctic LNG (JOGMEC and Mitsui consortium) also participate in the project - 10% each.
  • proven and probable reserves of the morning field according to PRMS standards (as of 31.12.2020) amounted to 1434 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
  • proven and probable reserves of the morning deposit according to PRMS standards (as of 31.12.2020) 90 mlc tons of liquid hydrocarbons.
